Blog

I love the San Antonio River Walk all decked out for Christmas!

I’m a novelist, not a blogger, but…

First of all, I’m an educator and engineer, and have had to use lots of different technologies over the years, but navigating creating a webpage has been a TOTAL NIGHTMARE!! (I’m pretty sure I’m not the first to say that, but maybe the first with the guts to actually write it on my first blog!)

I accidentally figured out how to do some things, even after spending hours watching “How to…” videos about this specific WordPress. (Did anybody else get partway through and realize that what he was showing in a video that’s less than a month old WASN’T THE FORMAT THEY USED FOR THE SAME KEYSTROKES NOW?!) HOLY GUACAMOLE, BATMAN!!!

Now that I’ve vented …

AAARRRRGGGGGH!!! Just as I began typing, my 13-year-old cat decided HE had to be the center of attention and jumped up next to my keyboard. (I’m old: I prefer a desktop to a laptop.) In retaliation against my refusal to allow his presence, he knocked over my large, full cup of iced tea (yep, just refilled!) all over my mouse, keyboard, paperwork, and my nice, warm, cozy sweats and slippers! THANK GOD FOR PAPER TOWELS AND MY DAUGHTER’S BLOW DRYER! (How else do you get the water out from between keys on a new keyboard?!) The good news: It was unsweet tea (no sticky!), and I didn’t KILL THE CAT!!! I doubt he’ll try that trick again for, oh, maybe, another 20 minutes! He still (after 13 years!) doesn’t understand the word, “NO!!”

NOW ON TO IMPORTANT THINGS!!

Well, I finally DID IT! I submitted my original novel, MISTY MANSION, (written almost 30 years ago!) to some publishers. They expect an “active” webpage, so here’s my feeble attempt to accommodate that.

I know I can use this page to reach folks I’d never otherwise connect with, so it’s a good addition. I was active with a writer’s group in North Dallas many years ago, and am joining the local group at our library. Teaching full time doesn’t offer any free time for that kind of luxury, so I’m grateful for the opportunity now that I’m retired.

I’d post a family picture, but my Army girl, who’s now serving in South Korea, forbade me from using the last good family picture we took, just before she deployed to Afghanistan in 2019! When she returns next summer, I’ll update to an all-inclusive family picture. For now, it’s me on the San Antonio River Walk, delighting in the CHRISTMAS LIGHTS! (and warm weather!)

Since I’m not really a blogger, I’ll probably only post monthly until I get the hang of it, but who knows???? Maybe I’ll get whimsical and write more often.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! ENJOY THESE HOLY DAYS WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS! REMEMBER WHAT LINUS SHARED,

“And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them! And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all my people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ, the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men.’ “

“That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”
