Got ’em all published!

Just double-checked KDP, and all five of my novels are published. I have one more, Living Again, to add. That one’s the “diary” I would’ve written had I been a diary writer when our Jonathan was little. Journey through early years of bilateral cleft lip & palate child’s treatment. Fiction, of course, but diary entries are pretty accurate as I remember them. The little girl w/craniofacial microsomia was a real child I met at one of Dr. Salyer’s (Yep, the awesome surgeon who separated the Egyptian twins joined at the skull Oct 13th, 2003!) Craniofacial Christmas Parties. Adopting a microsomia girl years later was definitely a God thing! Joy is AMAZING, just like the munchkin in my novel!

Did I say before that getting the covers right is a ROYAL PAIN IN THE DERIER?!?!!! (And I know about pain in the butt!! Nerve pain attack just hit as I’m sitting here typing this!!)

I am kinda working on a short one, Page Peril, based on some experiences as Page Co-Chair at Texas Republican Conventions for 10 years. My “partner in crime” did most of the real leg-work, and continues to serve in that role now that I’m physically unable to do so. Again, fiction, but lotsa real events.Non-book stuff:

Working on my plants: tropicals: plumerias are healthy. Hibiscus both died (heat!!). Sagos are grandpups of the huge one that sat at the end of our walkway at our home in Rockport 50 years ago. Large one inherited when Mom died (2010), and in pot for years, then planted in Emily’s garden (Mikaylah’s awesome Golden Retriever, memorialized in Final Flight). icepacolypse of 2021 (Winter Storm Uri) killed it! Was able to save 14 pups!! Joy’s dog ate 3 of them! Supposedly toxic: nope! No effect on that stupid dog! Anyway, 4 survived enough to be transplanted. One just suffered catastrophic damage this summer. No idea why that one and not the other 3! Transplanting and trying to save today. Even though they are desert plants, Texas summers are brutal!

Spent three hours shredding years worth of documents/bills/invoices! Filled 3 black trash bags! Amazing the stuff I filed, knowing nobody else would ever see any of it, but filing cuz Mom saved/filed everything for tax purposes. No longer need, and most available online now anyway, so shredded so kids wouldn’t have to deal w/when I’m gone. Still have Mom’s medical file (w/documentation of RADICAL AMOUNT OF RADIATION that killed her 4th bout with breast cancer (How do you have breast cancer when both breasts were radically removed years before?!?!?) and gave her 40 years more! Funny side effect: bone shards from ribs grew thru THIN skin on chest. Doctors wouldn’t touch for fear of infection, so Mom used an emory board to file them down!! TOUGH OLD BIRD!!!! No infection ever resulted.

Can you tell I’m randomly posting stuff?! Not much else to say. Wounds not healing well. PT just arrived. Tata for now!

Did I tell you how nice it is to have a child work for Schlotsky’s?! Not only do they treat her WELL, but she brings home yummy sandwiches and soups, and their cookies and brownies are THE BEST!!! When I was a kid, Schlotsky’s was a special treat about once a year. Now I’m almost tired of it!

Closing for now to make myself work on Page Peril. Not sure where I’m going with it, but had fun with the first chapter. Stamina is limited, so what used to take a few weeks to write (except Final Flight, which I wrote in 3 days!) now takes nigh onto forever! Good thing I’m a “pantser,” who just sits down and flies by the seat of my pants! Sometimes, I’m as surprised by what happens as my readers!! Let’s see where we’ll go with this one.

Thanks for reading! Remember to keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith; our Faithful Redeemer; our Friend that sticks closer than a brother (or sister); our SOON COMING KING!! Maranatha, Lord!!!
